«ریشه مساله» در نگاه سیستمی، ساختاری است که باعث دور شدن از «هدف» و به وجود آمدن «مساله» و «نشانههای مساله» میشود.
مهارتهای تفکر سیستمی مجموعهای از مهارتهای فکری از جمله تفکر پویا، تفکر کل نگر، تفکر عملیاتی، تفکر درونزا، تفکر حلقه بسته، تفکر کمی و تفکر علمی هستند که به شکل گیری «تفکر سیستمی» کمک میکنند.
«گفتگو» فرآیندی است که طی آن افراد ضمن آشنایی با مدلهای ذهنی یکدیگر، به شناخت دقیقتری از موضوع مورد گفتگو دست پیدا میکنند.

«ناتوانی آموخته شده» ناشی از شکستهای گذشته است. وقتی حس کنیم در زمینهای نمیتوانیم موفق شویم، دیگر تلاش نمیکنیم و همیشه شکست خورده باقی میمانیم.
ساختار سیستم مشخص میکند که چه عواملی عضو سیستم هستند و این عوامل چگونه به هم مربوط هستند. ساختار سیستم «رفتار سیستم» را شکل میدهد.
