فکر سیستمی وقتی با یک رویداد مواجه می شود، می پرسد که:
– آیا این اولین باری است که با این رویداد مواجه شده ایم؟
– آیا با همین رویداد یا چیزی شبیه به آن در گذشته هم مواجه بوده ایم؟
نمودارهای علت و معلولی ابزاری ساده برای نشان دادن ارتباط بین اجزای مختلف یک سیستم هستند. این نمودارها با استفاده از فلش‌هایی نشان می‌دهند که
«خود کارآمدی» باوری است که نسبت به توانمندی خود نسبت به موفقیت در انجام یک کار خاص داریم.
«نظریه در عمل» روش تصمیم و اقدامی است که در مواجهه با شرایط واقعی، بر مبنای آن عمل می‌شود و البته ممکن است با «نظریه اظهار شده» متفاوت باشد.
